Our Story

Meet Our Family
How We Got Here
Before the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, coffee farming was Sim's family’s main source of income. He understands the process of growing coffee from a single seed to a field of beans that are handpicked, fully washed, and dried, which are the preliminary steps before roasting.
Julia worked and travelled in East Africa in years past. When we were married in Winnipeg, we had Rwandan coffee beans as our wedding favors for our Canadian friends and family. Many people told us afterwards how much they enjoyed the coffee we shared. The thought of one day selling it as our own business has now become a reality.
We hope that through Thousand Hills Coffee we can share with the world the rich taste and enjoyment of Rwandan coffee and at the same time support the local farmers there who work hard daily to bring it to life.
Do you love the best coffee? 😊
